Elijah Gowin

As and artist, I am interested in engaging digital photographic technology in a more humanized way —pursuing a photograph that balances between the past and the present, the hand-crafted object and the synthesized Photoshop image. By using these oppositional tools and methods, I ask the larger question of how the personal gesture can survive in a global society increasingly reliant on technology. Searching for balance and grace in a time of instability and shifting paradigms, I want to make photographs as an expression of our contemporary faith and doubt.
