May Tveit
I am an artist who works in the disciplines of site-specific sculpture, installations art and public art. I am drawn to creating largescale sculpture, installations, and public art as all-encompassing experiential environments with the aim to place the viewer within and among the work of art. I am continually inspired by industrial manufacturing and contemporary social issues. I seek to draw the viewer’s attention to the relevance of insignificant or unconsidered aspects of a site and its condition. My work often contains overt and covert layers of social commentary and critique. It is my aim to create art experiences that are thought provoking, experientially powerful, and critically relevant to our times.
Artist-in-residence from 2006 to 2010.
