Reviewing Barry Anderon's Polychrome Rift

A new exhibition featuring Barry Anderson opened at Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art on Friday, February 2nd. The exhibition, titled Polychrome Rift, features works made with AI and then printed on DiBond and CNC cut. The result is psychedelic images resembling architectural spaces. In the new age of technology, the artist has decided to use AI to his advantage rather than shy away from it. In his work, Barry is interested in how humans deal with space, both the domestic and natural. Anderson puts images he has already taken into an AI program that then combines different aspects of the images to create a new one. The prints are cut into geometric shapes and assembled together. Often, the shapes are influenced by the image. The non-conventional shapes aid in creating a world that appears alien and futuristic. These photo-realistic works reimagine what it can be like to work alongside technology.

Barry Anderson was a resident of Studios Inc from 2009-2014. Polychrome Rift will be on view at Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art through March 23rd.
