Studios Inc welcomes Peregrine Honig
Studios Inc welcomes Peregrine Honig into Studio Inc’s Artist Residency program in the summer of 2021. Honig shares, “I have started a series of eight foot by ten foot oil paintings based on the ideas behind the movie* [Summer in Hindsight]. It would be easier to execute and edit the canvases as a body of work if I were able to view them all at once.”
Honig’s new 3,000 sq ft studio space at Studios Inc will provide the artist ample room to work and develop new ideas and body of work. In her words,
“...the bigger my space, the bigger my work. I create costumed scenes and draw, paint, film my ideas. I focus on but am not obligated to the figure. I start at a grand scale and refine my ideas to more delicate scenarios so I can return to my origins with detail.”
Honig is a well-known artist both in and outside of Kansas City, MO. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Albright Knox, Buffalo, NY; Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass.; the Milwaukee Art Museum; the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington D.C.; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; and Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, Connecticut. Honig has had solo and group exhibitions at Dwight Hackett Projects in Santa Fe, Geschiedle Gallery in Chicago, and Larissa Goldstein, in New York. Honig has a solo exhibition, which opens at 4pm on June 26at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum in St. Joseph, MO
